It turns out that the problem is much more wide spread than I had originally thought. Therefor this list will grow accordingly as suspicion warrants. Though doing good things in secret will still be tolerated (at least for now), if I have reason to believe that you ARE doing good things in secret, You WILL be exposed. Consider this fair warning. They're good people. You'll like them: **COPYRIGHT PROBLEM SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN CLEARED UP** False copyright claims on two of my original songs seem to have been cleared up by youtube. And very quickly I might add (once I did things the right way). My advice on these matters: CALMLY follow the directions. Thank you youtube :o) ***This video was tagged for copyright infringement just after I posted it. This is my original (copyrighted) song so it should be interesting to follow (and document) what happens in this dispute. This is the first installment of documentation. I'll probably add things as they happen. (Stay tuned and enjoy.) 07-08-2010 I can't believe this. I just uploaded a song that I wrote and produced myself. Within a half hour (with only 9 views, 4 of which were mine) I'm being tagged for a copyright infringement. Within 5 views, someone is claiming ownership to my original song that I just uploaded. The only info I'm getting about the supposed owner is this: Content owner: CS Type: Audio content From a search I'm assuming that CS stands for Counter Strike (game), but I'm not sure. I would love to know who tagged me for my own song. I hope that if someone's playing games that they get nailed good for this. Excuse me while I go kick my *expletive* refrigerator. 07-08-2010 I think I have it figured out now. My video must have the same ID number as someone else's. I'm still gonna kick my refrigerator though!! 07-16-2010 A small change in the notice from youtube. Here it is: Your video, Those who do Good Things in Secret (Original song) , may include content that is owned or licensed by these content owners: * Content owner: Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society Type: Audio content What should I do? No action is required on your part. Your video is still available worldwide. In some cases ads may appear next to your video. Apparently the above entity still wants to claim rights to some part of my original song. Which part is anyone's guess. I'm betting that the software I used to convert my song into a video assigned the video file the same serial number as the serial number of the content that the above entity claims to own. One way to find out if I'm correct is for me to convert my original song file once again using the same method. I'm assuming that the serial number that my conversion software assigns to my song on the new conversion will be different than that of the first conversion. The next step would be to post the video of MY ORIGINAL SONG on youtube under a different name and see if it is also flagged for copyright violation. If it isn't flagged, I can assume that it was the serial number (and not the content) that was picked up by the copyright violation detector. I can also assume that the above supposed content owner hasn't even looked at their content to see if it is anywhere near similar to any thing in my ORIGINAL SONG MADE USING ONLY ROYLTY-FREE SOUND SAMPLES ARRANGED IN SUCH A WAY AS TO MAKE MY ORIGINAL SONG AN ORIGINAL SONG. If the above entity has in fact claimed rights to a number rather than sound content, we can be thankful that it wasn't any of the numbers from 1 to 9. Think of the anguish of little school children everywhere knowing that every time the teacher asks them to count to ten they would be billed for royalties on number nine.
