Mike was away on a business trip this week and... for some reason... that made me feel that I should not be (of all things) working. So I did something I haven't done in ages: rolled up the rug in my office, cleared the walls, pushed the furniture out of the way and basically just messed around with my camera. I didn't have anything particular in mind and... man... I shot a whole lot of crap. But it was fun, and freeing, just to have the time and space to try laying various traps for different kinds of light. I'm finding that diaphanous fabrics are effective. So too are the edges of limbs. The sad part is that, of course, this kind of hunting is purely catch and release. It's all just illusory. It can not last (which of course makes the hunting that much more exciting).

ghostly i'm not sure why, but i do have this desire to be... at least in photographs... light and airy... devoid of substance i want to fly i want to float i want to be seen through i want... more than anything... to harvest slices of life with my camera that cannot be seen or understood by the naked eye i talked to a fellow photography nut at a plant sale on the weekend she told me about a week-long retreat that's coming up in the summer... only about a half hour's drive from here she has done it twice - once as an immersion, and then again as a commuter - driving back and forth from her home every day and she much prefers the immersion option i think that would be better for me, too plus i really love the idea of getting completely away... and doing nothing but eatingsleepingbreathing photography for a week in the great outdoors while... alll the while... being so close to home, and knowing that if I have a homesick emergency, Mike and Echo can always take a drive out and visit me

if this were in black&white, i'd think of "Dancing Barefoot" by Patti Smith.

The array and beauty of the subtle tones and light is even more striking and impressive in the original size. This is great.

You do manage to achieve an ethereal quality in many of your photos. They paint an intriguing picture of the hidden McNeney. This is great.

not sure I get the hunting metaphor. But this is an image to be proud of. Hope you don't 'release' it. One to be kept i think. You should explore more what you feel about the diaphanous phenomenon. I too have a thing for this. I think part of the appeal is that something can be at once hidden and revealed at the same time, which has a sort of thrilling quality to it.

Beautiful capture.
Weird but hauntingly seductive comes to mind.
The immersion option for the retreat sound like fun.

I get the feeling that you only post to Utata. While Utata is a wonderful group that I too am a member, there are other good groups.
